Common questions
Is this privacy policy generator really free?
Yes. There is no account, no paywall and no usage limit. The tool is a static web page: once it has loaded, generating documents costs nothing to run, so there is nothing to charge for.
Where does my business information go?
Nowhere. Every field you fill in stays in your browser's local storage on this device. There is no server, no database and no analytics on your inputs. Close the tab and the data is still only on your machine; clear your browser data and it is gone.
Will these documents make me GDPR compliant?
They cover the disclosure requirements — telling people what you collect, why, and what rights they have. Compliance also involves things a document cannot do: keeping a processing record, signing agreements with your providers, honouring deletion requests, and reporting breaches. The compliance tab lists those separately so you know what is left.
Can I use the output on a commercial website?
Yes. The generated text is yours to use, edit and publish, with no attribution required. You are responsible for checking it describes your business accurately.
Which laws does the generator know about?
The GDPR and UK GDPR, California's CCPA/CPRA, Canada's PIPEDA, Brazil's LGPD, Australia's Privacy Act, India's DPDP Act, South Africa's POPIA, COPPA for children's services, EU cookie rules, and consumer contract rules for sites that take payments.
Does it replace a lawyer?
No. It replaces the blank page. A generated policy built from standard clauses is a reasonable starting point for a small site, and a poor substitute for advice if you process health data, serve children, operate in finance or insurance, or face a specific legal question.
